November is going to be a massive month for New York fans of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). There are two shows being held in the city on the 20th and 21st. The latter is the 2021 Survivor Series, one of the biggest PPVs that the company hold.
The action in New York begins on Saturday November 20 with a Supershow. This is being held at the War Memorial Arena in Syracuse. It’s a show well worth spending a few dollars to attend. That’s because this (and the Survivor Series the following night) is one of those shows which see Raw and Smackdown wrestlers appear, rather than just one of the brands.
The card for the 20th is of course subject to change but some of the top WWE wrestlers will be appearing at the War Memorial Arena. Both the WWE champion Big E and Universal champion Roman Reigns are down to appear. Will there be a clash between the two champions?
That might just happen because of the nature of the Survivor Series, as will be explained shortly. Other wrestlers scheduled to appear on the 20th include Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, Smackdown Women’s champion Charlotte Flair, Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio and Drew McIntyre. Probably not Brock Lesnar though after his recent suspension.
Professional wrestling may well be predetermined but you can still place bets on the sport. Bookies will give odds on major shows such as the Survivor Series. It’s always important to keep going back to online sites as the odds will continually be changing.
Sites such as DraftKings and PointsBet are making great strides in recent years. Whether it’s the NFL, NBA, NHL, cricket or MLS, odds are available throughout the day, no wonder New York residents can’t wait to see sports betting legalized in the state, informs a betting guide aggregator nyfreebet.com.
Onto the Survivor Series which takes place at the Barclays Center on November 21st. This is an event that always takes place around Thanksgiving and was first held back in 1987. At that time, WWE legends such as Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Macho Man Randy Savage and the Million Dollar Man were topping the card.
This was a different kind of show than the others the company held. The Survivor Series sees team matches, sometimes 4 v 4, other times 5×5. Eliminations take place until one team remains, aka the survivors. Recent years have seen the show become an event where members of the Raw roster take on the Smackdown wrestlers.
There have been many memorable and infamous events at the Survivor Series. 1990 saw the arrival of The Undertaker. This is the fourth time the Survivor Series has been held in New York. The three previous events were held at the Madison Square Garden in 1996, 2002 and 2011. Many of the wrestlers who appeared that night are likely to appear at the 2021 Survivor Series.
In fact, one of the feuds seen ten years ago – Dolph Ziggler v John Morrison – was again seen recently. And you wonder why some people, including former WWE employee Jim Ross say the product is a bit stale.
The 2020 Survivor Series was held in front of just a few people due to the pandemic. It’ll be a different story this year and it’s a show that you can look forward to. We may even see some champion v champion matches as was the case last year. The thought of Big E. v Roman Reigns and Charlotte Flair v Becky Lynch certainly whet the appetite.
By the way, the famous wrestler Minoru Suzuki announced that his solo promotional tour in the United States is over.
Suzuki posted on Instagram that he is now returning to Japan. The ring veteran thanked his fans in the United States, noting that pro-wrestling is flourishing around the world.
According to him, he spent two wonderful months with American wrestling fans. Suzuki noted that he had many worries and scars on his body. For an athlete, wrestling is the only thing that helps you survive.
The Japanese star arrived in the US in early September and then made a surprise appearance on AEW All Out, facing off against John Moxley.
During his tour, Suzuki fought three fights for AEW, the last of which was against Brian Danielson at Rampage Buy-In on October 15th.
The ring veteran also competed for GCW, NJPW Strong and IMPACT during his visit to the States. Suzuki fought Josh Alexander this week while recording IMPACT TV.
Wrestling is a type of entertainment that includes matches with elements of wrestling, the course and result of which are planned in advance. Matches take place between performers (wrestlers) who play the roles of certain characters.
The forerunner of wrestling is the catch wrestling. In the course of evolution, attacking and power techniques, throws and new grips, as well as various acrobatic maneuvers were added to it.
