The National League East has been one of the best divisions in baseball with some incredible teams competing for wins. These teams basically all added in an attempt to compete and today we are going to look at the future odds to win the division after around a month of games as a sample size.
Make sure some to understand the Preakness Stakes odds and what they are telling you so you can make some extra cash on horse racing to supplement your account while you are waiting for these futures bets to hit.
New York Mets (+100)
The New York Mets have been one of the best teams in all of baseball as they are leading the division by six games right now. I think them being even odds is a steal with how loaded the roster has been without Jacob deGrom throwing a single pitch. They have faced the Phillies seven times, Nationals four times, and the Braves four times.
This team has been doing incredibly well as they are leading the majors with a .337 on base percentage and with 243 total hits thus far. Their pitching has been phenomenal as well as they are third in MLB with a .205 batting average against. The bullpen is holding their own while the starting pitching and offense is doing exactly what you’d expect with these names. All in all, load up on the even odds as this is the best you will see.
Atlanta Braves (+250)
The defending World Series champions currently have the second-best odds to win the division as they are currently third in the division with a 12-16 record while being seven games out of first place. Atlanta recently had All-Star right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr return from a torn ACL and he should help boost the offense, which is 15th with a .688 OPS right now.
Their pitching needs to drastically improve as well as they are 23rd in the big leagues with a 4.11 team ERA. These Braves are better than what they have shown and there is a lot of time left but I wouldn’t advise depending on them here.
Philadelphia Phillies (+700)
The Philadelphia Phillies are the third-highest odds in the National League East as they currently are tied with Atlanta with a 11-15 record and sitting seven games out of first place right now. Their pitching is improved but it feels like they are on the verge of firing manager Joe Girardi for the non-playoff appearances and another slow start.
The pitching has been mediocre at best as they are tied with the Oakland Athletics with a 1.25 WHIP. The offense is supposed to carry the team and has not done enough despite being fourth in the majors with a .725 team OPS. The bullpen has struggled to get going and that is going to be their downfall this season. All in all, go with the Phillies to compete for a NL Wild Card spot but not the division.
Miami Marlins (+1448)
The Miami Marlins are a young team that has some incredible pitching but not are hitting as well as you need to. Miami is currently second in the NL East with a 12-14 record and are currently six games back and are on a bit of a slide as of late.
As of this writing, Pablo Lopez is second in the majors with a 1.29 ERA but the offense as a whole needs to step up as they are 16th in the sport with a .681 OPS so far. They have built up some confidence, but I do not trust this team to do enough to take down some of the super powers in the division. They should be able to compete in the next year or two as they get some more experience and better players surrounding their solid starting pitching.
